The Russian alphabet has 31 letters and two signs. In this lesson, you'll learn the letters and their sounds. Knowing the letters and their sounds will allow you to learn to read Russian words and sentences in the lessons without English transliteration.

The letter Б produces two sounds when it is used with different vowels: hard Б and soft Б. In this lesson you'll practice all the possible combinations of Б with vowels, so you could learn their correct pronunciation.

The letter Б is used with different consonants. Some combinations may sound harsh to you, and difficult for your vocal cords to produce. So practicing the letter Б in combination with the consonants is the best way to get used to the new sounds.

Depending on a vowel, the letter В produces two sounds: hard В and soft В. In this lesson you'll practice the letter В in combination with other vowels, so you could learn their correct pronunciation.

The letter В produces two sounds - В and Ф depending on the letters it is followed by. In this lesson, you'll learn and practice all possible combinations of the letter В with consonants.

In this lesson, you will practice the letter Г in combination with А, Е, О and other vowels. Depending on a vowel that comes before Г, the letter may produce either hard Г or soft Г. You will practice all the possible combinations separately and in words.
